Calling all Female Photojournalists

What a week for women all over the World!

The week began with International women’s day, Kathryn Bigelow became the first woman to win a Best Director Oscar for the Hurt Locker and the Indian parliament voted to pass a bill that would reserve a third of legislative seats for women.

So, I’m pleased to give a big shout out to The French Association des Femmes Journalistes (AFJ) and Canon France who are once again launching the 10th competition of the Canon Female Photojournalist Award.

This Award, supported by Le Figaro Magazine, is handed out every year during the Visa pour l’Image Festival in Perpignan, France, where the winners work is displayed on 42 m screens to 100’s of industry professionals. This year the awards take place in September with the winning photojournalist getting a prize of €8,000 Euros in addition to the opportunity to exhibit at their project at the 2011 festival.

The competition is open to professional women photojournalists of any age or nationality with the deadline for entries being May 31st 2010.
