Demotix launches Video! (and a new site...)

One year after launching our picture wire, we have finally brought on video! (and a new site, and a bells-n-whistles e-commerce system)

Today, we are c.3,000 active photo-contributors in 190 countries around the world, and we've built an ever-growing archive of 200,000 images. Your stories have been featured on the front pages of The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, and The Guardian, on CNN, NBC, BBC, AP, Reuters, and EPA, and all over the world’s online news sites, making Demotix contributors tens of thousands of dollars in the process.

Now, we're launching video with the same strategy: to bring a different voice to the news agenda. Demotix unashamedly stands for free speech and a democratised media – so check out our first video story here, it's appropriate:

There are bugs still around the site, it's slow (because it's reindexing all your work), and there are a lot of things yet to come, but I agree - I think it's a huge improvement.
