The Environmental Photographer of the Year 2010 competition is open until 5pm on 31st July 2010.

EPOTY celebrates photographers who use their ability to raise awareness of environmental and social issues. It is open to professional and amateur photographers of any age from anywhere in the world, and encourages entries that are creative, resonant, original and beautiful. Subjects include wildlife and marine life, environmental degradation, street photography and urban lifestyles, technology, landscapes and portraiture.

The categories are:

• Changing Climates
• The Natural World
• Quality of Life
• Innovation in the Environment (New for 2010)
• The Underwater World (New for 2010)
• A View from the Western World (New for 2010)
• Young Environmental Photographer of the Year (Under 16 & Under 21)

Winners share a prize fund of £5,000, and all winning and highly commended entries are displayed in the free Environmental Photographer of the Year exhibition – details to be released soon. Copyright is retained by the photographer.
