Demotix and Publish2 News Exchange Partner!
Publish2 News Exchange - the "new Associated Press for the 21st century" - and Demotix are partnering.

We are very excited to announce that Demotix will be the first picture and video network to offer content via Publish2 News Exchange when they launch photo support later this summer. Newspapers and other news organizations will not only benefit from the huge efficiency of sharing photos directly through News Exchange, but they will now also benefit from the efficiency of our open photo sourcing platform. For us at Demotix, this opens a potentially very large segment of the US local market, and the thrill of partnering with a new news organisation that truly shares our beliefs and vision of the future.
Newspapers seeking alternative sources of news photos have already recognized the huge benefits of sharing photos directly, which News Exchange will enable them to do now on a national scale and with much greater efficiency. With the addition of Demotix to News Exchange, newspapers will also be able to buy photos a la carte for coverage of major news events around the U.S. and around the world.
I have described Demotix as "the freelance’s AP".
Scott Karp, CEO of News Exchange says: "We love that. Demotix is disrupting the news photo market, opening new options to photo buyers like newspapers. We love disruption that helps all the news orgs on News Exchange evolve evolve their businesses -- that's our mission."
From Demotix' perspective, we're thrilled to be partnering with Publish2 News Exchange. The future of news is open, agile and collaborative. Publish2 is at the very cutting edge of that revolution, and we are proud to be joining them. We have a shared vision of democratising news gathering and distribution. Activating our community across the News Exchange platform brings every corner of the world to News Exchange and gives voice to our community across the US.

See what Poynter made of them when they launched earlier this year, and have a read of Editor & Publisher's latest piece about them.
After they won the Special Distinction prize at the Knight-Batten Awards this year, the Guardian described them as follows:
The aim, the start-up boldly stated, would be to disrupt the business model of The Associated Press: "Craigslist it," as founder Scott Karp said. The News Exhange platform seeks to open up the traditional newswire – of which the AP is the dominant US example – and create a set of custom wires geared more towards sharing and collaboration.
