Demotix contributor makes the cover of Spectrum in the Sunday Times Magazine.

Demotix has provided the lead image in this week's Sunday Times Spectrum section, their showcase of the best photography from around the world. It's a huge vote of confidence in the work our contributors are producing.

In the shadow of the London Eye, a group of children practice their acrobatic skills by leaping from the embankment onto sand on the south bank of the Thames.

They came with their older brothers, all acrobats in a professional troupe. The group was hired by the UK Aware environmental charity to draw attention to their their event by leaping over and around electric cars. But the real attraction was their younger siblings. Still too young to join in with the real display, the boys headed to the river and attracted a crowd of onlookers as they dive and flip from raised platforms and steps by the bank side.

The boys, all between eight and twelve years old, delighted their impromptu audience by jumping from higher and higher and executing ever more elaborate moves. At the end of the day, the boys left with sore feet but with much-improved prospects of jumping with their brothers in the near future.

I'm a bit put off that

I'm a bit put off that Demotix claims that Demotix provided this lead image.

In fact it was the photographer who created this image that should be praised.

I hope that Demotix remembers that if it were not for the photographer who produced this image, and submitted it to Demotix for distribution and licensing, Demotix would not have anything to brag about nor would they have the licensing fee that they split with the photographer.

I hope that this is not an indication of how Demotix views their contributors.

Please acknowledge the photographer as well as the marketing skills of Demotix.
