Adobe LightRoom plug-in for Demotix

Adobe Photoshop Lightroom is a photography software program developed by Adobe Systems for Mac OS X and Microsoft Windows, designed to assist Adobe Photoshop users in managing large quantities of digital images and doing post

production work. It is not a file browser like Adobe Bridge, but rather an image management application database which helps in viewing, editing, and managing digital photos, the same way photographers used to do in the non-digital world.

Demotix has a plug-in for Lightroom that you can install, which will make it easier to send in images from your desktop.

To start with you need to download Lightroom, either the free Trial version or the full paid version from this Lightroom link

Minimum system requirements:

Windows
Intel® Pentium 4
Microsoft® Windows® 7, Windows Vista® Home Premium, Business, Ultimate, or Enterprise (certified for 32-bit and 64-bit editions) or Microsoft® Windows® XP with Service Pack 2
2 GB RAM
1 GB of available hard-disk space
CD-ROM drive
1,024x768 display
Macintosh

Intel-based Mac
Mac OS X 10.5 or 10.6
2 GB of RAM
1 GB of available hard-disk space
CD-ROM drive
1,024x768 display

Some users have also reported that the Lightroom plugin is compatible with older PPC-based Macs running Lightroom version 2.*.

Manage export plug-ins

Choose File > Plug-In Manager or click the Plug-In Manager button in the lower-left corner of the Export dialog box. The Lightroom Plug-In Manager dialog box lists installed plug-ins in the left panel.

Do any of the following:
Select a plug-in from the left panel to view information about it in the main panel.
To add a plug-in to Lightroom, click the Add button. Navigate to the plug-in, select it, and then click Add Plug-In.
To remove a plug-in from Lightroom, select it from the left panel and then click Remove.
Click Done to close the Lightroom Plug-In Manager and return to the Export dialog box.

Once the Demotix Plug-In has been installed, and you have added keywords, captions and individuals in the IPTC fields of the images you want to send in, select all the images you want to send in. You can send in as many as you want, but only 25 can be used per story on Demotix.

Please make sure your captions are no longer than 250 characters, as they will be cut off in our system. Photo editors like simple and informative captions.

Would prefer if this was also in the "Publish Services" tab in the library module (LR4.2)

Hello
I have tested Adobe Lightroom Demotix Plug-In,
with Lightroom v3.4.1
and Win XP pro.

I uploaded 2 test stories.
Captions and Keywords were all loaded as well.

This plugin for me is good if you upload many pictures.
I usually prefer the ftp uploader, using FileZilla which is fast for uploading, and after I use the upload page for creating, editing the story and add caption, keywords, etc.
______________
I have now a problem, as I cannot delete the test stories.
Of course they were never published and i tick the "delete" option under
"City: *"
"Street:"
"Additional: "
fields, in the Edit page.
After i click "Save", but the story it is not deleted.
It is still showing on Dashboard as Status : Pending.
May be I have to wait a little until the system will delete the stories.
They were uploaded last night, but they are still there
Does anyone has a solution?
---
EDIT - solved
Now (after 11 hours), the pending stories are gone, they were deleted.
That means that after you have deleted an unpublished story, it takes hours to get deleted from Dashboard.

It´s too difficult to create a new story/upload photos from Adobe Lightroom! :( Try contacting Jeffrey Friedl, he knows how to write good/usable Lightroom plugins! http://regex.info/blog/lightroom-goodies

This one is really bad! I have to got to a website, create a "Upload code" go back to Lightroom, export many pictures. Go back to the website (after hours of uploading) choose all the picture again, create a story ... sorry people, thats bad usability.

Why can´t I just use a Lightroom publishing Service (instead of exporting the images), insert my Username/Password and start creating new Stories out of Lightroom? Publishing Services are developed for that. :/

greetings, André

One more thing, how do I change the JPEG size (pixel), the color space and the quality of the exported photos?

Our primary goal is the faithful and comprehensive depiction of the subject at hand. As visual journalists, we have the responsibility to document society and to preserve its history through images.
