Is it possible next time the upload page is revised to separate the country, city and date from the actual text of the media summary?
I'd hate to be the one to file a story with the media caption ending with:
Wales, Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch 31st December 2012
All I can say is thank god Wales is a country imagine filing:
United Kingdom, Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch 31st December 2012
My number one frustration is having to re write a summary caption because of one or two characters when the basic info of place and date should really be additional to the text and not part of the media summary text.
QED,
best Lawrence
PS My number two frustration is the the spam bot, hence the new discussion.

Good point, Lawrence!
I'm generally battling the 250-character media-summary limit down to the last few keystrokes, and hate to sacrifice finite wordage to country, date, month and year within the media summary.
The logic of this change (it wasn't always like this, remember?) escapes me. After all, this info is already present above the published story headline, culled, I assume, from the input at the bottom of the upload page. This repetition, at least in the pages that visitors and contributors see, looks distinctly 'unprofessional' and certainly unnecessary.
My best guess is that this repetition of country, date, month and year within the media summary is for the benefit of clients to whom team Demotix push stories asap, because all they see, we are told, are photos, media summary and captions. If so, no problem there, and we can leave the tech team to deal with more pressing issues.
BTW, I would love to file a story from Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch, Wales! If the internet Domain name system can handle it, so can Demotix
Hi Dev, I wouldn't mind filing a story from anywhere in Wales; very nice place, and had great holidays there. I am very hopeful that one day soon this will be sorted out. Like you, I don't see the point today of having this repetition in the system not to mention occupying valuable space. I am sure that there must have been a good reason at the beginning to have this set up. Best Lawrence

Hi Howard, I had one of those deleted images when the system wanted me to include a caption. To be honest with you, I just got pissed off and typed a letter and clicked save, think I can delete them later. The story filed ok and the images did not show. As for the other issues so far I have not experienced those problems. best Lawrence

PS can we add to this issue tagging with foreign words and especially names of organisations in the original foreign (in my case Spanish) language. Thus -Federación Pensionistas y Jubilados- is 100% correct and not PROBABLY wrong. best Lawrence

I wish it also contain the tags that we have (if that is the case) to be included when we upload our stories....
Multiple files upload would be useful as well rather one at a time
For what it's worth, I've been thinking lately that it would be advantageous to have a text input box where the photographer could bring anything they felt important to the attention to an editor or whomever might review the incoming images. It would be a private form of communication- if you will- between the "office" and the field that would not be visible in the finished story. I can't tell you how many times I've sat and thought, "I really wish I could tell them _____ "
