I have sent emails on various occasions and have not received any replies. Emails have ranged from questions about upload, website, and stories. What kind of average turn around time should we expect?

Hola Nuno!

Many, many thanks, (long overdue Smile for a fantastic website!

Just a couple of points:

1] Since Demotix & buyers both are so keen on image metadata, is there any way that your system can automatically harvest it from the uploaded image file?
Specifically, I would love not to manually enter the exact time every image was actually shot, especially while uploading, captioning, and clicking all the other radio buttons while posting a multi-image essay! More work for you, I know, but it would make for a much smoother contributor experience Smile
For instance, while uploading a couple of images to the Nikon Photo Contest International recently, there was all the required data in the fields: camera, lens, date, time, etc. which could be amended manually, if need be.

2] Looks like the thumbnail gallery on the individual story page has disappeared Sad
Maybe it's just my browser, but if yes, I'll miss knowing at a glance how many images are there in a big report, and clicking first on the ones which look most interesting, or not looking further at all (because, for instance, they are all minor variations on the same basic angle or subject).

Btw, imho, one of the easiest languages to learn is Hindi, if you're still looking.

Namaste & all the best,

Dev

Dev,

Thumbnails were missing on our site as we will be making them bigger in the near future - We just had to disable it for the time being. Your browsers fine Smile - and they should all be back now.

Hello Dev,

Many thanks of your nice words, on behalf of the whole team. Regarding your points:

1 -

a - The system already harvests some metadata from the images (and keep it attached to the image) such as image caption, keywords or individuals.
You might not see it in the first upload page (edit story), because we don't want to import keywords from the images to a broader context. e.g. assume you have one picture in your set that has a dog on it, so one of the image tags would be dog. However, your story isn't about dogs - so it would give you extra work by deleting unwanted keywords at the story level (now multiply it by the total number of images). This is why we have a second page where you'll be able to take care of each individual image information. Try it by yourself: add some keywords and/or caption to an image in your system and upload it into a story. When you'll load the "edit images" page, you'll see that along with the story keywords, that particular image will also have the original keywords you've added before.

b - We do not need to keep/have info about the material used to take the picture. I understand why platforms such as Nikon Photo Contest International would need it, but our goal is to provide the relevant metadata that media buyers look at. They won't look if you took the picture with the latest Canon camera or Lumix lens, instead they'll focus on the picture photographic quality, along with its digital quality. The first gateway is tags / captions, by which they can actually reach your picture.

2 - Stephen already replied to this in this thread. Basically we had to witdraw it for a while to make some improvements that will be released very shortly.

I hope this helps and we're all looking forward to seeing new stories from you on Demotix!

Namaste,
Nuno

Dear Nuno,

Many thanks for your detailed reply. Much appreciated Smile

Looking forward to the improvements: bigger thumbnails, links with further info on stories, etc! Can you reveal when you're launching? I would still hope for automatic harvesting of the time-stamp embedded in each image file Smile

And I will certainly try out key-wording at the downloading/cataloging stage at my end. Thank you for that tip Smile

Best,

Dev
