A man wearing face paint entered the centre in Dendermonde with a long knife and began slashing some of the children lying in beds. He fled on a bicycle but was arrested shortly after in a supermarket by police. Prosecutor Christian Du Four said the man was unemployed and had no criminal record or previously known mental problems.
