11 people lost their lives as cattle rastlers hit a village in Isiolo, Kenya on November 15, 2009.
This is bare two weeks after the locals protested insecurity in the area and blocked Nairobi-Ethiopia highway.
5 of the killed people were police reservists, while 6 were villagers. The raiders also shot several camels and stole the rest. 
Now, the locals are fleeing their homes to safer places. Schools have been closed as residents fear more attacks.
The local leaders have critized the killings which happened hardly a kilometre from a military camp.
Business was paralysed in the town as the residents threated to demonstrate the killings but police intervened.
Tension is still high in the metropolitan town. No one has been arrested in connection to the killings.

The recent fightings in Isiolo, Kenya, has affected the lives of the women and children so many ways.
Whenever there is a conflict between a community and another, children and women are usually the worst hit.
Sad still is the fact that many do not know the reason for the war or the conflicts. They are innocent children who deserve peace and security in their lives.
Fight over resources like water and pasture in the area has been going on and now it has escalated double fold as cattle rustling compound the issue.
According to sources, boys as young as fourteen are carrying guns as they graze hundreds of cows.

A group of boys swim at  River Ewaso Ng'iro in Isiolo District, Kenya. Many children are out of school following tension in the area due to insecurity. The government has embarked on an operation to recover stolen animals from various communities in the area. This has not been received positively by the locals and they have posed resistance by killing eight people including several police officers. Last week, the government hinted possibility of using the military to disarm the communities living in Samburu and Isiolo parts of Kenya.
