Cesare Prandelli's boys had a hard time to penetrate Malta's defence during a World Cup 2014 qualifier match in Ta' Qali. Prandelli, and admitted that his team was slow and had difficulties when facing a well organised team.

The Armed Forces of Malta invite the Chinese Navy to visit Malta. Two frigates, 570 and 568 entered the Grand Harbour around ten. Some time later replenishment vessel 885 berthed close by too.

Walk the Pink Road Together is the theme for the 5th annual awareness walk organised by Europa Donna Malta (The Breast Care Support Group). The aim of the walk is to show solidarity with women who are receiving treatment for breast cancer.

During a very sunny sky, the Marsa team won the 31st Regatta in the Valletta Grand Harbor. Senglea, Cospicua, Vittoriosa, Kalkara, Marsa and Marsamxett participated with different types of boats to win the traditional competition.

Dr Joseph Muscat is sworn in as Prime Minister of Malta by the President of Malta Dr George Abela. The ceremony took place at the President's Palace in Valletta. Dr Muscat then headed towards his new office in Auberge De Castille.

PL (Partit Laburista) lead by Dr Joseph Muscat has won the General Elections with a staggering 55% majority which might heed a 9 seat majority in Parliament.

Maltese celebrate as the Labour party's Joseph Muscat wins the election. It was a landslide victory in which outgoing prime minister Lawrence Gonzi resigned after defeat.

Celebrations in Malta as the Malta Labour party are confirmed winners, even though counting of votes continues. Nationalist Party leader Lawrence Gonzi concedes and congratulates Labour leader Joseph Muscat. Labour leads by 36000 votes.

With voting stations having closed punctually at 23:00, most ballot boxes have arrived by buses, and under heavy guard, at the Naxxar counting hall, including the ballot boxes from Gozo, Malta's sister island. Voter turnout was measured at over 90%.
