An estimated 35,000 revellers joined druids at Stonehenge to celebrate the Summer Solstice. The prehistoric monument in Wiltshire, has become the traditional home of the mid summer festival. Crowds began arriving at the 5,000-year-old site before sunset on Saturday evening. As the sun sank behind the clouds, drummers crammed into the centre of the stone circle for more than seven and a half hours of spontaneous music and merry making of fire spinners and pipe players, until the sun rose again, shortly before five a.m. to see in the dawn, for England's longest day of sunlight in the calendar year. The event passed of peacefully as police watched from a distance as the huge crowd waited in anticipation for the sun, obscured by a blanket of cloud, to appear; but what could be seen clearly in the dawn sky, was the unmanned police drone as it hovered, collecting images, above the mass of exhausted spectators.

The prehistoric monument in Wiltshire, England, has become the traditional home of the mid summer festival. Crowds began arriving at the 5,000-year-old World Heritage Site before sunset on Saturday evening. As the sun sank behind the clouds, drummers crammed into the centre of the stone circle for more than seven and a half hours of spontaneous music and merry making, with pipers and flame spinners, until the sun rose again shortly before five a.m. to see in the dawn, for England's longest day of sunlight in the calendar year. The event passed off peacefully with police watching from a distance as the huge crowd waited in anticipation for the sun, obscured by a blanket of cloud, to appear. What could be seen clearly in the dawn sky, was the unmanned police drone as it hovered overhead, capturing images of the exhausted throng.
