Explosions went off in the Shahr-e-Nau neighbourhood in Central Kabul, followed by a firefight. Afghan Channel One TV quoted police as saying a group of assailants had entered the Directorate of the Afghan Public Protection Force (APPF).

An eight hour clash between Afghan Taliban and local Police erupted in Kabul, after two explosions were heard in the city centre. At least five insurgents were killed and four traffic police officers were also wounded in the fighting.
