Estimated by Catalonian news to have 5,000+ demonstrators, people from all walks of life came together to protest Madrid's proposed course of action. On Sunday, 7 March 2010 in the town of Mora d'Ebre in southern Catalonia, Spain, a large group of demonstrators gathered to protest plans to build a nuclear waste facility near Mora d'Ebre. Estimated by Catalonian news to have 5,000+ demonstrators, people from all walks of life came together to protest Madrid's proposed course of action. Additionally, the protest served as an outlet for the Catalan independence movement. As evidenced by the garb and flags of the protesters, it was obvious that the decision to locate the nuclear waste facility in Catalonia was another fissure point for the Catalonian nation of people who wish for their independence from Spain and from the decisions of the government in Madrid.

Referendum a favor o en contra de la independència de Catalunya en la pequeña població de Arenys de Munt, cerca de Barcelona. La convocatoria del referendum fue prohibida por los Tribunales de Justicia españoles, pero se realizó sin ningún incidente destacable. Por la mañana 70 miembros de la organización fascista Falange, se manifestaron en el pueblo contra la celebración del referendum. La manifestació fascista fue contestada por independentista y anarquista así como por vecinos de la población. El sí a favor de la independencia de Catalunya ganó con un apoyo de mas del 90% de los votos.


A small town in Catalonia has increased the pressure on the Spanish government for the independence of Catalonia from Spain. The rally and referendum was a symbolic gesture to the government but was met with clashes with Spanish fascist movements. 

In the morning 70 members of the organization fascist 'Phalanx' marched through Catalonia, the fascists were answered by supporters of Catalonia independence and anarchists as well as by the neighbours of the population. 

The yes in favor of the independence of Catalonia won with a support of 90% of the votes.
