At around noon of 3 August 09, the cortege of former Philippine President Corazon 'Cory' Aquino passed by Ayala Avenue in Makati City en route to the Manila Cathedral where her body will lie in state until Wednesday. Thousands of people poured out into the Philippines's main financial centre as they pay their final respect to the departed and well loved leader who brought democracy back to the country in 1986 after deposing the dictator Ferdinand Marcos through a popular revolt that came to be known as the EDSA People Power.
