A panel gathered today to start the 3rd Iraq War inquiry at the Queen Elizabeth II Conference Rooms in Westminster, London, UK. Chaired by Sir John Chilcott, the panel will be hearing testimony from civil servants and political advisers in its first day. Former Prime Minister Tony Blair is expected to be called as a witness at a later stage. The inquiry will focus on the UK's role before the war, the resulting consequences and the invasion. Sir Chilcott has promised that this inquiry will not be a whitewash - something that the previous inquiries have been accused of. The inquiry today counted with the presence of Rose Gentle, mother of deceased soldier Gordon Gentle as well as grandmother Pauline Graham. Mrs Gentle, whose son was killed in action in Basra in 2004 has since campaigned against the war in Iraq and is fighting for justice for her son. Tempers flared when a sole anti-war protester confronted Mrs Gentle and Mrs Graham with accusations of another whitewash inquiry in what was regarded as a misplaced anger attack.
