An army known as “Els Enfarinats” overtook the power in the town of Ibi in Alicante (Spain) on the 28th of December, while bombarding with eggs and flour all those that would oppose their rules and refuse to pay taxes imposed during the fictitious coup d’état. An army known as “Els Enfarinats” overtook the power in the town of Ibi in Alicante (Spain) on the 28th of December, while bombarding with eggs and flour all those that would oppose their rules and refuse to pay taxes imposed during the fictitious coup d’état. “Els Enfarinats” is a 200 years old tradition; it is a Spanish equivalent of April Fool’s Day. The battle between the rebels and their opposition takes place in a plaza some 100 meters away from Ibi’s Town Hall. All money collected from the jailed pedestrians goes to charity, this year to San Joaquin’s retirement home in Ibi.
