Note: these photos were taken within the restrictions imposed by the organisers. A homage march in memory of Carlos Palomino, who was assassinated in 11 November 2007, was organized by the anti fascist movement today 12 September, 2009 in Madrid. However, the organizers imposed restrictions on photojournalists on what they could photograph/video during the march. Palomino was assassinated on the metro at Legazpi station by an alleged member of the ultra right. The march was headed by Palomino’s mother, Mavi Muñoz, which started in Plaza Eliptica and ended in Legazpi. Some photojournalists reported being threatened if they took photos/video of the people in the march. Most of the local media then decided to boycott the event and not do any visual reporting as demanded by the organizers. The argument given by the organisers was to protect the identity of those take part in the march and demanded that photos can only be taken from in front of the official cordon. I was not personally threatened, although it was made very clear that I would be prevented from taking any photos if not within the restrictions directed by the organizers. The judicial process of the alleged killer will start on Monday, 14 September,2009, and strict security arrangements are expected around the law courts.
