As part of their project, Operation Serve the People, the Bayan Muna (People First) Party travel to the Northern Philippines to extend relief missions to the people affected by the flash floods. Pangasinan, Philippines. 20/10/2009.

Bayan Muna representative, Congressman, Satur Ocampo, leads the distribution of care packages to the residents of Barangays Pantol and Paragos in Bayambang, Pangasinan. The residents are still in the process of recovery after flash floods from the San Roque Dam wrecked havoc in the province two weeks ago. Rep. Satur Ocampo was applauded and well received by the people, not only for his charitable activities, but for his nationalist and pro-people stance in congress.

Peasants were the main beneficiaries of the mission. Their livelihoods, palay(rice) and onion cultivation, were ruined by the floods. The peasants are sun- drying their remaining palay(rice) grains to sell to the traders at lower prices.

A bag of rice and some tinned food brought smiles and hope for the people in this part of the country. What's more, the presence of their congressman, showed them the true meaning of public service in these hard times.

Marikina City, Philippines, 04/10/2009.

Victims of typhoons Ondoy (Ketsana) and Pepeng (Parma) are trying to recover from the tragedy. Private individuals and non-governmental organizations are sharing their resources to augment the basic needs of victims. Without these non-governmental organizations and concerned individuals, it would be too hard for the government to reach out all the victim's needs which is its primary responsibility.

Photos were taken at Elementary School of Concepcion, Marikina City serving as the biggest evacuation center for typhoon Ondoy. This primarily houses the victims from the community of Tumana - a village in Marikina City. People are still lacking enough foods and other basic necessities. They rely on the day to day delivery of basic needs coming from different concern individuals and groups. Recovery and reconstructions are way far for the victims and their communities.
