Over ten people have lost their lives and property of  has been destroyed as a result of floods in parts of Kenya. The worst hit area is Samburu where River Ewaso Nyiro  burst its banks causing destruction to a number of tourist hotels in the area. Samburu, Kenya. 06/03/2010.

Over ten people have lost their lives and property of unknown value destroyed as a result of floods in parts of Kenya.
The worst hit area is Samburu where River Ewaso Nyiro have burst its banks causing destruction to a number of tourist hotels in the area.
Transport from Isiolo town to Marsabit has been paralysed as the bridge which connects the two towns have been destoyed. Two bridges have been swept away by the raging waters.
The Kenyan government has urged the people living along the river banks to move to higher grounds to avoid being swept away.
Bridges, villages and livestock have been swept away. Security officers are having difficult times controlling people who are trying to salvage freezers and other items from the river.
The government is on the ground assessing the damages.
