Police were called to a bank robbery in the early hours of thursday may 23rd. The perpetrators gained access to the back of the bank and then broke into the cash machine at the Birkdale branch in Santander. Forensic's were still at the scene at 5pm.

Hundreds of flowers and messages of condolence have been left on the Woolwich Barracks perimeter fence in remembrance of Lee Rigby, who was murdered by two men yesterday. Roads cordoned off by the police were reopened in the early evening.

A Call was made to police by a member of the public stating they had dropped a suspicious package in a virgin store in Teesside, as a result stores within Middlesbrough and the headquarters at Preston Farm were evacuated.
