Grassroots Tax Protests Gain Momentum in U.S.
Citizens Rally against “Obamacare”

Oceanside, Ca. September 3, 2009 – Hugh Smith

Thousands gathered for a stop taxing us rally at Oceanside, Ca. pier, site of a “tea party” in April 2009 that drew more than 5000 tax protestors. This grassroots event was sponsored by the Stop Taxing Us group founded by Dr. Gary Gonsalves who continues to fight illegal immigration, taxation and poorly legislated healthcare reform. The protest centered on what Stop Taxing Us term Socialized Healthcare being debated in the U.S. Congress.

In 2007, Stop Taxing Us started as a community-based, grass roots movement in North San Diego County. When a local hospital tried to use a mail-only ballot to garnish support for a hospital bond, which failed twice in the general election format, many community members felt that the democratic process was under attack. That bond eventually went down in defeat.

Guest speakers at this rally included Rick Roberts of AM 760, Congressman Darrel Issa, 49th District of California, Ted Hilton for Taxpayer Revolution, Gubernatorial Candidate, Chelene Nightingale, Shawn Black, Assembly Candidate for the 70th District and Christine Rubin, Assembly Candidate for the 77th District.

Congressman Issa pointed to the 1100 page bill now in Congress as opposed to his 6 page bill which simply put, gives Americans the same healthcare as the U.S. Congress which costs $300 per month without pre existing conditions.

As the U.S. faces record deficits of over 9 Trillion dollars, more tax protests are springing up around the nation. More about Stop Taxing Us can be seen at www.Stoptaxingus.com
