Biswa Ijtema begins in Bangladesh as people leave Dhaka

The three-day Biswa Ijtema (first phase), the second largest Muslim congregation in the world, began on the bank of the Turag River at Tongi today with the participation of devotees from home and abroad. Dhaka, Bangladesh.
The Biswa Ijtema, organised by Tablig Jamaat, will conclude Sunday with the offering of 'akheri munajat', when the Turag riverbank and a vast area around, even stretching into the northern part of the capital, spreading into an ocean of people.
The elite-force Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)and plainclothes police will be deployed while several thousand volunteers of Tablig Jamaat will also be on duty for ensuring security.
The government took special steps for introducing extra train, bus and launch services for smooth journey of devotees.
