The presidential elections campaign in Indonesia kicks off

A mass of several thousands supporters gathered at the the Gelora November 10 Stadium in Surabaya today. The reason was the planned public appearance of the Indonesian presidential candidates Megawati Soekarnoputri and Prabowo Subianto, to mark the opening of their electoral campaign.

However, the presidential candidates did not appear as planned. But among the present speakers were Guruh Soekarno Putra, son of the first president of the Republic of Indonesia Soekarno, and his daughter Uti Soekarno Putri. Also Indonesian artists appeared such as Miing Bagito, Mayang Sari, and Velasquez.

Some 5000 people in the stadium looked disappointed due of the absence of the candidates. But they found consolation in the music and the typical Indonesian food being served. Some of the people present wore helmets with bison head.
