Premiere of controversial Human Body Exhibition - Dublin

The controversial Human Body Exhibition opens today at Dublin's Ambassador Theatre. Today marks the World Premiere of the exhibition that displays the components of the human anatomy using human corpses. The bodies on display are preserved using a technique known as "plastination" which preserves the inner organs and limbs by replacing the water and fat in the body with certain types of plastics. This technique ensures that the bodies do not smell or decay.

Organisers of the Human Body Exhibition promote its educational value however successive tours of the exhibition have met with strong criticism on ethical grounds. The issue of consent by deceased individuals put on exhibit has been one source of controversy surrounding the Human Body Exhibition.
