Translocation of four one horned Indian rhinos in Assam - India

The forest officials along with different NGO workers during the tranqulisation and translocation of 4 number of one horned Indian Rhino from Kaziranga National Park to Manas National Park in Assam on sunday, Feb 19, 2012.In the operation, the Assam Forest Department along with World Wildlife Fund for Nature (WWF) and International Rhino Foundation (IRF), as per the plan, four rhinos have been captured in the Kaziranga National Park . Two of the rhinos captured are around 10 years of age and the other two are around 3 years of age of which 3 are females and one male. All the rhinos are fitted with radio collars for regular monitoring after the release at Manas National Park. This operation has been done under Indian Rhino Vision (IRV) 2020, which is a joint programme of Assam Forest department, WWF and IRF whose vision is to attain a rhino population of 3000 wild rhinos in Assam spread over deven of its protected area by the year 2020.
