Fiesta in Celebration of the Cowboys - Tucson

An exciting opening day at the Tucson Rodeo featured junior and professional rodeo riders from around North America. The day kicked off with some Mutton Bustin’ and, if you’re not sure what that is, just strap a 4-6 year old child onto the back of a lamb and let her go! Some of the cutest rodeo you’ll ever see! Next we had some Junior Rodeo performances from the 7-12 year olds, followed by the high schoolers doing some team roping and tie-down roping. This really got the crowd warmed up and ready for the main event.

Professional Rodeo Cowboys came from all over the United States as well as Canada to perform in this year’s La Fiesta de los Vaqueros, which dates back to humble beginnings in 1925. Current and past world champions in Bareback Riding, Bull Riding, Tie-Down Roping, and Steer Wrestling put on amazing performances on the very first of nine days of competition.
