'Summit for the Uninvited' demonstration outside No.10 NHS party
Health professionals, excluded from the Prime Minister's NHS summit gathered at Downing Street to protest against the Health Secretary's unpopular health reforms.
Health professionals fighting to save the NHS, many of whom were on their lunch break, gathered at the gates of Downing Street, as the Prime Minister hosted a summit on the NHS, to which they had not been invited.
Professional bodies who oppose Andrew Lansley's NHS Bill found themselves locked out of the summit. The British Medical Association, Royal College of Nurses, Royal College of General Practitioners, Royal College of Physiotherpists, Faculty of Public Health, Royal College of Radiologists and Royal College of Midwives are among those who did not get an invitation to the meeting, as they failed to satisfy the government's criterion of being "constructively engaged in implementing the modernisation".
