Demonstrator's protest outside Downing Street as more British soldiers return from Afghanistan in coffins. It has been claimed that Prime Minister Gordon Brown had blocked plans to send out a larger force to Afghanistan and is also widely claimed that British soldier are not well equipped for their tasks out there.
A demonstrator was arrested for protesting outside the designated area but this only led to around 100 of the other demonstrators to move across the road and voice their opinion at the gates of downing street, blocking all acess to vehicles.
The Stop the War coalition organised the protest to coincide with Tony Benn's attempt to deliver a letter to downing street asking for british troops to be pulled from Afghanistan but police on the gates were informed that Tony Benn and his 3 colleagues were no longer permitted to hand in the letter.
