The worker's unions call for an anti-austerity protest in Syntagma Square. Meanwhile the left wing political party PAME marched, leaving from Syntagma Square.

About 500 people protested at Syntagma square this evening for the austerity measures to be passed, while left wing political party PAME marched with more than 5000 attendees from Omonia square to the Columns of Zeus, passing from Syntagma square where they ended the march.

It was generally a peacefull protest, with heavy police presence which combining with the bad weather and the force shut down of central subway stations by the police, prevented and discouraged the people from attending the protest.

Meanwhile more than 22 people where detained for "preventive" reasons, scaring more off attending the protest. This tactic has been used by the Greek police for the last few weeks, which seems to be working, making people hesitate to attend the protest.
