Hundreds of NADRA employees hold a protest for regularization of jobs
Employees of National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra) working on a contract basis went on strike to protest alleged delay in regularisation of their services.
RATODERO: Hundreds of NADRA employees held large protest demonstration and sit-in was held on Thursday infront of Bhutto mausoleum in Garhi Khuda Bux demanding regularization of their contract jobs. Mujahid Hussain Dero, Fareed Mangi, Aftab Ahmed, Khalid Mirani, Sanaullah and Mohsin Dhamrah told Journalists that due to closure of their offices under protest the work of Benazir Income Support Programme, Watan Card verification, Pakistan card, arms licenses, updating electoral lists and issuance of new CNICs has come to standstill and they will never end their protest until and unless they are regularized. They further said that the contract of 61 employees has been terminated and they should also be given regular jobs along with regularization of 14700 employees which have been working in NADRA since its establishment in 2000-2001. They further said that they are always kept on false promises by awarding and extending 3 years contract but their services have not yet been regularized by the elected government which against the norms of Justice & equality. The employees belonged to Sukkur, Larkana, Shikarpur and Naushehro Feroze zones and districts. The Larkana & Kambar-Shahdadkot zone remained completed locked, they further added, and no work was done in Kambar, Dokri, Shahdadkot, Mehar, Ratodero and three offices of Larkana. They further said that the employees working on contract in NADRA are from T-1 to T-4 and O-1 to O-10 groups and rendering them jobless after serving for several years is indeed against the basic manifesto of ruling peoples party. After the protest in GKB the agitating employees took out a rally and marched by foot from GKB to President Camp House, 3 kilo meters away in Naundero, where also they held protest demonstration and staged sit-in and delivered a memorandum to the House incharge demanding regularization of their jobs. The police remained alert around the House. They said that they are working since many years but the present government is not doing Justice with them and is denying them their basic legal right. They further warned that if their terminated 61 employees are not reinstated and their jobs are not regularized they will never open NADRA offices in Pakistan and all work will remain paralyzed. They appealed to Prime Minister, Yousuf Raza Gilani, to issue their job regularization notification immediately and fulfill his prmise.
