Temple campaigns against private airport project in Aranmula
Aranmula temple launched a massive awareness campaign on the ill effects of the private international airport at Aranmula. A traditional decorated chariot carrying the sacred flame will tour the 50 villages to educate people of the potential hazards.
A two-day massive awareness campaign is launched in Aranmula Parthasarathy temple to educate people, live in the surrounding 50 villages, of the ill effects of the proposed private international airport at Aranmula. A decorated chariot carrying the sacred flame transferred from the sanctum sanctorum of the Parthasarathy Temple is touring all the 50 villages as part of the public awareness campaign. Temple priests, leaders of different political parties, snake boat crews and a huge crowd witnessed the event. The event was organized by Palliyoda Pallivilakku Samrakshana Samiti (PPSS) an organization formed by snake boat crews of different areas . The campaign will ensure the unity of people for their fight against the conversion of wetlands and paddy fields, destruction of heritage sites, sacred groves, and other places of worship in the name of developing a private airport. Aranmula is a traditional village known for its unique metal mirrors, snake boat racing, traditional art and architectures.
