First US Female killed in Iraq War honored on anniversary - Phoenix
Lori Piestewa died on March 23, 2003 in the same attack that Jessica Lynch was taken prisoner by Iraqi forces in Nasiriyah. Piestewa was the daughter of a Hopi Native American father and a Mexican/American mother.
Lori Piestewa's Humvee was struck by an RPG and slammed in to a disabled vehicle. Piestewa along with two others were taken prisoner by Iraqi forces and Piestewa died a short time later.
Piestewa was awarded the Purple Heart and Prisoner of War Medal.
The mountain where the event took place, in central Phoenix, has been renamed in her honor to "Piestewa Peak".

Yes sure thing Parker. Are you on FB? That's probably easiest. I know that a few of us have set up a page supporting the Syrian movement, and trying to figure if anyone is going to organize any rallies. There was a fundraising dinner held a month ago, but since then, it's been rather quiet. If you're on FB, feel free to Like the page, I'm trying to keep it up-dated as best I can: http://www.facebook.com/wesupportsyria

Thanks, Leyla. If you hear anything about about the Syrian community here having events, will you please let me know? I'm having a really hard time finding out what's going on.
Really great captures, Parker. I especially love the first dove released, incredibly moving.
