About thirty fountains in the city including Trafalgar Square will have fountains turned off due to the hosepipe ban. The ban introduced by seven water authorities in parts of southern and eastern England, will affect about 20 million customers.

Trafalgar Square's fountains were built in 1845 normally operate from 8.30 am to 11pm. Other fountains affected include Venus in Sloane Square and those in Hanover Square, Bessborough Gardens and St John’s, Horseferry Road.
The Diana Memorial Fountain will not be affected as it has its own borehole supply.
