During the remembrance of the martyrs of 1938, a demonstration was violently suppressed by the police. Using teargas and bats they scattered the crowd and caused the death of at least a person.

The Tunisian Home Office during a conference March 28th had decided to forbid any demonstration on the avenue Habib Bourguiba. Avenue which was the symbol of the revolution of January 14th, 2011. To commemorate the martyrs of the independence of 1938 several political parties and the civil society decided to go against this decision and wanted to demonstrate peacefully in this avenue.

The police set up barriers and began to use the Heavily teargas causing the faint and panic between the ranks of the demonstrators. Further to it a hunting pursuit began and several political figures , likeJawher mbarek, w&s arrested. we regret the death of a 25-year-old girl.
