A new cable car is currently under construction that aims to start carrying passengers in time for the London Olympics between the North Greenwich Arena on the south bank of the Thames and the ExCel exhibition centre in East London.

It aims to start carrying passengers in time for the London 2012 Olympics between two of the Games venues, the North Greenwich Arena on the south bank of the Thames and the Excel exhibition centre in east London. The new 70 million euro cable car system will be the first urban cable car system of its kind in Britain.
