Curtain drops on Tagore's 150th birth anniversary celebration
Curtain dropped on a year-round celebration of 150th birth anniversary of legendary poet of Bengali literature Rabindranath Tagore in Dhaka.
Bangladesh and India jointly organised the programme.
A cultural delegation from India, which includes Sharmila Tagore, Dr Pabitra Sircar and a dance drama group from Sangeet Natak Academy also joined the closing ceremony.
The function marked official closing of the 150th birth anniversary of Rabindranath as well as inauguration of the national programmes of the 151st birth anniversary of the celebrated poet.
The year-long joint celebrations witnessed elaborate programmes on the great poet and participation of several cultural and literary personalities of the two countries in the events in India and Bangladesh.
Exhibitions of Rabindranath's paintings, musical soirees, seminars, workshops, commemorative publications and joint productions and performances of dances and dramas, based on the stories and songs written by Rabindranath, were organised as part of the programmes.
