The Supreme Court of Ukraine, move back ex-Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Tymoshenko's appeal against her seven year sentence in prison for a gas deal with Russia.
From 9.00 am at the courthouse and the nearby streets gathered hundreds of supporters of Yulia Tymoshenko with the flags of "Fatherland" and banners with the inscription "Freedom Julia"
As Ms. Tymoshenko defender Serhiy Vlasenko tald journalists, the presence of ex-prime minister at the court session, according to the law is optional.
"We expect the sole legitimate solution - abolition of the sentence and dismiss the case (...) All other decisions will be half-court, playing soccer Law" he said.
According to Mr. Vlasenko, today the government is preparing a decision on the administration of criminal proceedings in the Court of Appeal or the Court of First Instance. Thus, he says, the government wants to show Europe, that "something happens".
Mr. Vlasenko suggested that after such a decision within two or three months, until the end of Euro 2012, the case would not consider.
In the same moment Board of Judges of the Supreme specialized Court of Ukraine decided to defer consideration of the cassation complaint of ex-Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko on the sentence "gas case" on June 26.
So the court granted the request of prosecutors, who believed that the cassation complaint can not be considered without Yulia Tymoshenko.
Protection of former prime minister said that the appeal to the European Court of Human Rights, without waiting for the decision of the Supreme specialized Court of Ukraine.
"I appeal to Yanukovych: if you think that with today's decision you close our way to the European court, you are mistaken. Today's meeting we believe a final decision and go to the European Court of Human Rights" - said the defender Serhiy Vlasenko to reporters.
