SWAT team has standoff with gunman in California - Escondido
A SWAT standoff that began from a domestic dispute disrupts an Escondido neighborhood. Police indicated that a man with a rifle was barricaded in an East Grand Avenue apartment.
Escondido SWAT officers were called to an apartment complex on East Grand Avenue after a man with a rifle barricaded himself in a unit following a domestic dispute. According to one neighbor, this was the second time that police had to be called on the individual. The previous time officers had to break down the door to remove the suspect.
According to four-month resident Jeff Weber, while this was an extreme example, police activity at the complex was "kind of a normal thing." Another resident, who did not wish to be identified, referred to the suspect as a "raging drunk" who frequently caused problems at the complex.
