Thousands of dead fish and some weak in the Surabaya River are caught by fishermen and women. The fish are believed to have died from polluted river water due to factory waste pollution.

According to data from the Regional Water Company in East Java, oxygen levels in river water (Oxygen demand) is less than 1. Though ideally is 4. That which will cause the fish to die. Environment Agency of East Java still carry out an investigation with the relevant agencies to determine the exact cause of the decreased in oxygen levels in river water.
Ironically, people who take the Surabaya river of dead fish were then sold again to other common citizen. They did not know that the fish die because of factory waste pollution are quite dangerous if eaten.
This incident was the worst in the last 3 years.
