An armed robbery of a G4S Security van outside a Halifax Building Society in St Albans was foiled by a tip off to the Met Police. Some of the robbers escaped in a BMW car but were lated arrested by the Police. One man was arrested at the scene.

FOUR people have been arrested following an intelligence led operation by the Met Police flying squad.
The four people were arrested following an attempted robbery on a G4S security van, at 2.20pm, outside Halifax in St Peters Street, St Albans.
They have been taken to a North West London police station where they remain.

The man who operates a burger van in the St Peters Street, St Albans, saw the whole incident and described how he saw the Police arresting one man who was believed to be holding a replica gun, this afternoon.
Other men escaped in a BMW car by driving along a pavement, knocking one man to the ground and nearly hitting another women. The car then clipped a stationary car before driving down Holywell Hill. The Police helicopter was called and the men were shortly arrested, according to the burger van owner.

A cordon was in place between Marks & Spencer and Clintons Cards.
A G4S van parked outside the Halifax also has police tape around it.
It is believed Metropolitan Police officers were in the area after a tip off, and foiled the robbery. Hertfordshire Constabulary were called to assist.
