Friends of the late Chris Hamm, founder of the Greenlink inner city bicycle delivery system, mark his life long commitment to green transport by cycling to his funeral. 25th August 2009, Bishopthorpe
Friends gathered at the Marcia in Bishopthorpe near York today amidst sadness and reflection on the life of Chris Hamm. Chris was raised in Utah and married Carrie and settled in York.
Chris was an enigma and a contradiction and profoundly affected the lives of all who knew him, although keen on environmental issues Chris never made a big fuss about it he just lived it out in his every day life. Chris was a founder member of Greenlink along with Mic Thomas and Graham Horne. Greenlink was and is an innovation in inner city delivery using load bikes to move parcels and packages through the narrow streets of York. Chris then moved on to other cities in the UK to help them achieve the same solutions to some of their inner city logistics issues. On his passing it is estimated that Chris had helped achieve the removal of over 1 million van deliveries from Britain's crowded inner city's. Farewell Chris we're better people for having known you.
