Blackpool hosted Wall Art, from Croatia, South Africa, Portugal, Paris and London. Supported by the Arts Council, England, Virgin Trains and Blackpool Council, artists coloured in Blackpool walls and car parks in the city centre.

On a weekend when football tournaments were cancelled due to flooding and high winds, guys and girls from around the world ventured to the streets and walls of Blackpool to show their skills with a spray can or two.
Starting on Friday with the erection of scaffolding, with a little help from their friends, and the use of hydraulic 'Cherrypickers' hired for the weekend, they faced the elements for 3 days to put art to wall.
Lonac from Croatia was at his house side from ten on Friday morning and was still at it on Sunday night at 9 o'clock. They had a plane to catch the following morning. It was worth it, a painting which aptly represented to me, Time Flying with "Top Hatted" Youngster flying over the car park at the back of the Winter Gardens.
Speaking to the guys from Portugal, used to the warming Sun of more southerly climes, they photographed the walls of Adelaide Street and commented on how much they liked the varied weather of Blackpool....
I left Blackpool in awe of the skill brought from around the world in a paint can, departing Blackpool a more colourful and even brighter seaside town.
