Hindu devotees celebrate the annual Jagannath Rath Jatra (chariot procession), one of their major religious festivals, across the country amid festivity and religious fervour.
The International Society for Krishna Consciousness (Iskcon) brought out a chariot procession from its temple at Swamibagh in the city at around 4:15pm, seeking divine blessings for universal peace and harmony.
The procession marched through different streets in the capital and ended at Dhakeswari National Temple. The Rath will return from Dhakeswari Temple on June 28.
Thousands of devotees from different walks of life took part in the procession.
On the occasion, Iskcon has organised nine-day programmes, including Kirtan, recitation from Gita, discussion, and culture programmes at its Swamibagh and Wari temples.
