Britain’s first urban cable car opens to the public in London
The new 70 million euro cable-car system is the first urban cable car system of its kind in Britain. Emirates Air Line is a transport provider for the London gondola lift cable car link across the River Thames in London.
It start carrying passengers in time for the London 2012 Olympic Games between two of the venues, the North Greenwich Arena on the south bank of the Thames and the ExCel exhibition centre in east London. The system can carry up to 2,500 people per hour and will unite two venues of the 2012 London Olympic Games for spectators and athletes.
