Mexican Army celebrates 20 years with regiment of tanks and soldiers
While its use is destined mainly for combat, the machinery used by the Mexican Army's armored regiment is held in reserve as well as its continued maintenance and training of armored vehicles. Some are even used in civil emergencies.
The international humanitarian law prohibits the military use excessive force where the differences between those fighting weapons are superior this is perhaps one of the reasons for which in Mexico can not be seen in the streets, tanks and heavy armored vehicles to combat criminals, the weapons and equipment is very sophisticated to attack criminals cells the same way their displacement is considered inecesario and very heavy for its operation on the streets and greatly disturbing public peace by the ostentation of its weapons, being for something that only Mexicans have watched in movies or in parades.
Although its use is not publically appreciated, work in barracks or regiments destined for it is daily.
Its use today to fight cases is held in reserve, as equally in continuous maintenance and training of the troops intended for his use, because of the proximity of the first regiment and base of vehicles with the Popocatepetl volcanointervention time to evacuate residents is less than 30 minutes to the areas closest to the volcano, some of these units have been equipped as ambulances, communication stations, patrol posts, or vehicles for the transportation of food and utensils to assemble shelters.
