Anarchists, throwing torches to anti riot police in Camara, Thessaloniki, Greece during a protest againts the government
Today in Thessaloniki the were 4 big groups and some smaller, protesting against the government, one month before the general elections and the same day with the opening of the 74th Thessaloniki International Fair.
One of the groups, consisting of about 300-400 leftist and anarchists marched through Egantia St., Ag. Sofias st. and Tsimiski (main roads in the city) passing by the TIF main gate (Southern gate). During their march some of them destroyed surveillance cameras from banks and stores.
The group ended its march in Camara (Galerius arch) and while the people were leaving, 10-15 guys with masks through torches, like the ones that hooligans use in football matches, against the riot police and the responded with tear gases.
People run to avoid police and tear gases and after a while a group of policemen with motor bikes arrested in Iasonidou st a passer by. Two young guys, who publish a magazine, from the city of Drama and where filming the arrest were also arrested because of that.
The Communist party of Greece started its march from Sintrivani (Fountain) Square and ended it in Aristotelous Square. The biggest group, consisting out of Labour Unions, The public servant union, members of the Socialist party of Greece, the Coalition of Radical Left and the Green party of Greece, marched From roman market square, from Venizelos statue, through Tsimiski st. and in front of the main southern gate of TIF where about 2000-3000, maybe more, people.
