There have been protests across Pakistan against the enormous increase in sugar prices. During Ramadan, the month of fasting, consumption of all food products actually increases! Sweet and savory foods are particularly popular for breaking the fast.
This stall near my house does flourishing business selling these Jaleebis, which are fried sweets made out of flour and lots and lots of sugar.
With diabetes on the increase, such a price hike of sugar is a godsend, but habits die hard.
Until the habit disappears learn how to make Jaleebis from the Master in F-10 Islamabad, Pakistan.
