Traders demonstrate at Hatirpool for two-way traffic system

Witnesses said the businessmen took to the street blocking vehicular movement. They smashed a divider in front of Eastern Plaza. Traffic resumed around an hour later when law enforcers dispersed them.

President of Hatirpool ceramic businessmen's platform Riazul Ahsan alleged their business was being hampered due to one-way traffic in the area. Customers did not want to come to the area as it takes long time due to traffic rule, he added.

Deputy Police Commissioner (Traffic South) Alamgir Kabir told bdnews24.com that a diversion was put in place in the area for convenience of the people.

He said the business leaders did not object to the diversion, but today they smashed the diversion. "Legal actions will be taken against them," he said.
