Two men, hailed as heroes, saved a woman who slipped onto subway tracks of the north bound express 5 subway line at 42nd street durring rush hour. The men came to the woman's rescue by pulling her to safety just as a train arrived at the platform. Another woman pictured in a pink dress had her pink shoes in a bag and used them to try and signal the motorman of the north bound 5 express to slow down seconds before these two brave men saved this woman. Garfield Matthews reached down from the egde of the tracks and began to slip as he struggled to pull the woman up and Hoddon Patrick held onto Mr. Matthews, keeping him from completely going onto the tracks. They pulled the injured woman (Diane) onto the platform seconds before the train pulled in. M.t.a. officers E.S.U (Emergency Services Unit) and FDNY arrived on the scene to stabilize the injured woman and transport her to St. Lukes hospital.
